Derek Morrison
Founder & CEO
Hi, I’m Derek, the founder of Brightly.
I’ve called Scottsdale home since 2005. Over the last decade, my wife and I have owned and managed various properties, which made preventative maintenance a central part of our daily lives. Through this experience, we realized a simple truth: most homeowners don't neglect their property out of apathy. They miss the small details because life is fast-paced, weekends are precious, and nobody wants to spend their limited downtime swapping filters, testing smoke alarms, or chasing down contractors for minor repairs. Yet, those small tasks carry significant weight.
As property managers, we saw how often air filters were overlooked. After losing $20,000 to preventable HVAC replacements, we truly understood the toll that Arizona’s heat and dust take on a home. We saw how a few minutes of proactive care could have saved thousands.
This mission is personal, too. With two young children, I want our home to be a healthy environment for them. I want that same standard for our tenants and for my aging parents in Carefree, who shouldn't have to climb ladders or track maintenance schedules themselves. That is the heartbeat behind Brightly. We designed this service for busy families, landlords, snowbirds, and seniors, anyone who wants a well-maintained home without sacrificing their free time to a growing to-do list.
